Octopuses are fascinating creatures with a unique circulatory system. They have three hearts  two pump blood to the gills, while the third pumps it to the rest of the body. This system helps meet the octopus's high metabolic demands, especially when they’re swimming. When an octopus swims, the heart that pumps blood to the body actually stops beating, which is one reason why they prefer crawling over swimming it requires less energy.

The blood of an octopus is also quite different from that of humans it’s blue instead of red  This is because their blood contains a copper-based molecule called hemocyanin, which is more efficient at transporting oxygen in cold, low-oxygen environments like the deep sea.
